Couchiching First Nation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Case Aid Program Support Worker to join our Child & Family Care Program (CCFCP) team. This role is focused on providing essential support to children and families while assisting front-line workers with case management, transportation, and family visits. Job Position Overview:
The Case Aid Program Support Worker, under the supervision of the program supervisor, is responsible for serving children and families and supporting front-line CCFCP workers. It is essential that the individual performs this role with respect for the culture, values, and traditions of Couchiching First Nation, and acts as a positive role model within the community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, culturally appropriate support services to children and families.
- Provide assistance and support to CCFCP team members.
- Attend and participate in team meetings, seminars, and training sessions.
- Assist with case management, including transportation of children to appointments and conducting drop-in visits.
- Maintain detailed case notes regarding supervised visits, drop-in visits, and any incidents.
- Maintain filing of Child in Care and Family information and documentation and assist workers in locating file information as needed.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with agencies and service providers.
- Collaborate with CCFCP team and service providers to organize and conduct workshops and training for children in care, youth, families, or other community members.
- Keep vehicles in good working order by ensuring regular cleaning and maintenance.
- Prepare monthly, annual, and special reports as requested.
- Comply with all philosophies, policies, procedures, and protocols of Couchiching First Nation, Weechi-It-Te-Win family services, and relevant legislation and regulations.
- Act in a professional manner during work hours and after work hours, presenting as a positive role model for all clients.
- Provide on call duties on a rotating basis as scheduled.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Native & Family Services Worker or Social Services Worker diploma from an accredited college, high school diploma with 2 years of direct service experience, or combination of skills education and experience.
- Experience in case management and delivering services for children, youth, and families.
- Experience with traditional and cultural practices including working with Elders, Healers, and teachers, or a willingness to learn.
- Experience in the development, organization and delivery of community presentations, workshops, and programs.
- Knowledge of Couchiching First Nation Customs and Traditions, Weechi-It-Te-Win family services and the Treaty 3 Childcare law Abinoojii Inakonigewin.
- Knowledge of part IV of the Child, Youth & Family Services act, and its application.
- Understanding of human behavior and child development, with the ability to apply that knowledge to assess the strengths and needs of children, youth, and families.
- Dedicated to helping children, families, and Band members in a way that respects Couchiching First Nation’s culture and spiritual practices.
- Commitment to maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to work collaboratively within the CCFCP team and with service providers.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to speak Ojibway or a willingness to learn the language is considered an asset
- First Aid/CPR Certification or willingness to be certified.
- Ability to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid driver’s license and ability to provide a drivers abstract.
- Availability to work flexible hours.
