Position: Communication Operator – Temporary POOL
Duration: Temporary full-time
Pay scale: $76,766.61 to $92,156.90

As a Communication Operator you serve as the vital link between the community and emergency services. Moreover, you will be responsible and accountable to the Communication Centre Supervisor for the efficient and timely performance of your assigned duties and responsibilities.

Specifically, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
  • First, operate communications consoles, soft phones, radios, computers and associated equipment. Subsequently, receive and relay information to emergency services field personnel
  • In addition, maintain accurate records of the status of field units in CAD for the safety of responding units
  • Report major or unusual incidents to your Supervisor
  • Receive and assess incoming calls on emergency and internal lines and expedite the required action by performing the Computer Aided Dispatch function (police or fire)
  • Alternatively, contact the appropriate service(s), such as, but not limited to ambulance and utilities
  • As a result, ensure rapid response to community emergencies
  • Furthermore, assist in training new and existing personnel in job duties
  • All other duties as assigned within the core competencies
