We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy construction, logging, and mining equipment to ensure top performance and safety. The ideal candidate is a certified Red Seal Journeyperson (or equivalent) with strong problem-solving skills, hands-on experience, and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Key Duties

Heavy Equipment Mechanics are responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of heavy machinery through inspection, maintenance, and repair. Typical duties include:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair heavy construction, logging and mining equipment.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments, to minimize downtime.
  • Replace, adjust, or repair defective parts and test equipment for proper performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
  • Further, work with operators and supervisors to identify equipment needs, prioritize repairs, and plan maintenance schedules.
  • Follow all safety regulations and company policies while working in potentially hazardous environments
  • Finally, operate equipment as needed to support repairs and testing.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Mechanic in heavy equipment is preferred.
  • Completed a recognized vocational or postsecondary training program in heavy equipment mechanics.
  • Valid DZ driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and industry safety standards.
  • Proficiency in using various power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Also, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Finally, ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
