The Ontario Works Intake Support is a full-time permanent position. This position is responsible for answering enquiries and providing customer services and support to Ontario Works clients. The Intake Clerical Worker will also be responsible for scheduling appointments, intakes and maintaining confidential client files.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for creating an organized and controlled work environment for all staff.
  • To undertake and accept general and specific direction for daily work activities.
  • To create and organized and structured procedure of scheduling appointments, using manual or computerized systems.
  • To answer and forward telephone calls, send and receive faxes and direct to appropriate person.
  • Develop and maintain Employment Resource Centre an update all education, training, employment information on a weekly/regular basis.
  • Further, develop and/or central filing system of client information, program administration forms and employment forms.
  • Screen applicants and ensure that they are provided with general information regarding the application process.
  • To provide financial and employment support services to eligible recipients based on the Ontario Works Policies and Directives.
  • Determination of eligibility of an applicant and verifying sources of declared income, assets, information submitted by applicant.
  • To provide social assistance recipients the designated services of Ontario Works, such as intake and application processing services, to include completion of the initial participation agreement and issue financial assistance for clients in need of temporary financial support.
  • Moreover, to assist in proper program recording and reporting, develop statistical information as required for funding sources, enter statements, maintain clients’ statistics, maintain client confidentiality by ensuring the proper maintenance of files and documents.
  • Refer clients and/or participants who have mandatory participation requirements to the Employee Support Workers.
  • Participate in case file reviews, perform case management duties.
  • Assisting applicants as well as clients as required, making regular home visits to meet clients needs.
  • Assisting the in the promotion of education, training, and employment opportunities.
  • Also, assist in preparing and implementing financial and employment workshops for Ontario Works clients.
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12-High School Diploma or G.E.D. with (3) years work experience in Office Administration preferred, or
  • Post Secondary Diploma in Social Services or Human Resources or in another related field with (2) years work experience in Office Administration preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the native culture and traditions would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Works Act policy directives and regulations.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with computers and the Microsoft Office Suite (2007 or 2010)
  • Lastly, ability to provide a clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check
