Couchiching First Nation is seeking a dedicated and culturally grounded Jordan’s Principle Coordinator to lead service coordination and planning efforts for children and families in our community. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that all eligible children receive the services and supports they need in alignment with Jordan’s Principle and guided by our Nation’s cultural values and policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead coordination and application processes related to Jordan’s Principle services and funding.
  • Collaborate with both internal programs and external agencies to support children and families.
  • Educate as well as liaise with community members and staff about Jordan’s Principle.
  • Collect, manage, and report service-related data.
  • Prepare and submit applications on behalf of eligible children and families.
  • Work closely with the Health Director and cultural leaders to ensure culturally relevant services.
  • Participate in internal and external committees and community engagement activities.
  • Also, maintain thorough administrative documentation and reporting.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor of Social Work or a college diploma in Human Services.
  • A combination of relevant education and two (2) years of related work experience will be considered.
Experience:
  • One (1) year of direct service experience with children and families.
  • Experience working with First Nation communities is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Familiarity with Jordan’s Principle policies and services.
  • Strong case management, coordination, and mediation skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong documentation practices.
  • Further, ability to work independently and collaboratively in a culturally sensitive manner.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to understand and speak Anishinaabemowin is an asset.
  • Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
  • Clear Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
Cultural Expectations
  • Participate actively in cultural activities and events.
  • Incorporate Anishinaabe teachings and practices into service delivery.
  • Lastly, engage with Elders and cultural staff for ongoing guidance and cultural learning.
