
Job Summary:
Couchiching First Nation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Private Arrangement Worker to support families who voluntarily place their children with extended family or community members as a preventative measure to avoid child welfare involvement. This full-time position focuses on caregiver support, safety planning, service coordination, and strengthening parent-child connections while children remain out of care. Working closely with the Family Support Worker, this role helps maintain family-led safety, stability, and caregiving arrangements, ensuring children remain connected to their families, culture, and community wherever safely possible. The Private Arrangement Worker does not hold child protection authority and does not place children into care.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Firstly, a Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Human Services, or related field
- Combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
- Additionally, experience working with children, families, and caregivers in community-based or prevention-focused settings
- Experience in safety planning, service coordination, and family-centered practice
- Knowledge of Private Arrangements, kinship care, or family-led caregiving models is an asset
- Strong understanding of prevention-based child and family support
- Ability to engage families with respect, empathy, and cultural humility
- Equally important, excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Additionally, the ability to manage complex family dynamics and emotionally charged situations
- Knowledge of First Nation culture, community values, and trauma-informed practice
- Finally, the ability to work independently and as part of a team
