The Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay is looking for an outgoing and driven Marketing, Communications, and Fund Development Coordinator to join their team to help shape how the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay shows up in the community!

The Marketing, Communications and Fund Development Coordinator (MCFD Coordinator) is responsible for the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay’s marketing, communications, awareness and fund development initiatives. Overall, you’ll create and carry out marketing and communication efforts, build dementia awareness, promote programs and services, and support fundraising growth. You’ll also support sponsorships, community partnerships and key events like the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, along with other local fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Builds public awareness by promoting dementia education, Society programs and services, and key initiatives through media and community outreach.
- Plans and delivers marketing projects, awareness campaigns, outreach activities and promotional materials in collaboration with staff and community partners.
- Strengthens community engagement by working with local organizations and evaluating marketing efforts to support continuous improvement and broader provincial and national initiatives.
- Manages and updates all communication channels — website, social media, newsletters and print materials — ensuring content aligns with organizational priorities and brand standards.
- Creates digital and print materials, contributes newsletter content, and collaborates with staff to share educational, promotional and research-based information.
- Tracks communication and web analytics, maintains records and statistics, and contributes to reports, funding submissions and the Annual Report.
- Supports planning, promotion and delivery of fundraising events — including the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s — while coordinating logistics, budgets and third‑party initiatives.
- Builds and maintains sponsorships, donor relationships and community partnerships, including meeting with potential supporters and coordinating stewardship and recognition.
- Tracks, analyzes and reports on fundraising, sponsorship and event outcomes to guide improvement and future planning.
- Additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Firstly, a post-secondary education or related experience, preferably in marketing, communications, special event planning, fundraising or event sales marketing.
- Minimum 2 -3 years related work experience in an event coordination role and/or a combination of education, experience, and training.
- Knowledge of the non-profit sector, charitable giving, sponsorship development and community engagement.
- Moreover, demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate and evaluate marketing, communications and fund development initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience preparing correspondence, reports, promotional materials and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team environment.
- Furthermore, proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and independent administrative management. Experience with Canva, digital marketing, CMS, and donor software is highly valued.
- In addition, experience coordinating events, volunteers, community partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
- Experience working with sponsorships, fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship or community engagement activities is considered an asset.
- Lastly, knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, and Alzheimer Society programs and services is an asset.
Salary:
This position pays $50,000 per annum, with vacation and additional holiday time off, flexibility, competitive benefits, RRSP match, and more!
Requirements:
- Valid Class G Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to travel throughout Thunder Bay and District as required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, to support organizational events, programs and community initiatives.
- Ability to lift and transport event materials and equipment weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Finally, satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Location:
This office-based Thunder Bay position requires District travel to support Society programs, services, events, awareness initiatives and community partnerships. Mileage and approved travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with Society policies.
