Summary:

The Teacher, under the direction of the Principal and Education Directors, will primarily be responsible for developing, planning and implementing curriculum, lesson plans, and educational programming for students. They will be required to create and use assessment practices to inform their instruction and evaluate student learning. The teacher will also have strong classroom management skills and take a trauma-informed approach in their daily teaching practices. Equally important, they will have an understanding of universal design for learning and create lessons and activities that engage students of all abilities in their classroom. They will also be comfortable taking their students outdoors. Moreover, the teacher will be required to use the resources provided, with support from our outdoor education team, to create lessons that meet the expectations of the Lac Seul Education Outdoor Land-Based Learning curriculum.

Elementary Teaching Positions for the
2025/2026 School Year

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Note: This position is based at Obishikokaang Elementary School in Frenchman’s Head, Lac Seul.

Qualifications:
  • Firstly, Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Certification
  • Equally important, qualifications in the Primary/Junior and/or Intermediate Divisions
  • Also, Special Education Additional Qualifications would be an asset.
  • An understanding of First Nations culture and history
  • Lastly, an understanding of trauma-informed approaches to teaching
Salary:

As per the Lac Seul Education Salary Grid (Based on Years Experience and QECO Rating (Ranges from $62,777-$111,071). Lac Seul Education also is a member of the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (OTPP).
