Summary:
Lac Seul First Nation is seeking a Family Support Coach under the direction of the Director of Obishikokaang Sagatay-Gamik. The Family Support Coach will work directly with families to identify strengths, challenges, and opportunities to promote wholistic well-being. This role focuses on building strong, trusting relationships and delivering tailored plans and workshops that support each family’s growth, structure, and wellness journey. The position also supports community engagement and youth-based programming.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Develop strong, professional relationships with families.
- In addition, support families in identifying strengths and developing personalized wellness plans.
- For example, offer workshops and sessions in areas such as parenting, budgeting, personal development, and routines.
- Guide child development and implement strategies that support routines and self-care.
- Furthermore, document all visits and services to maintain confidential and accurate records.
- In collaboration with Family Advocates, the Director, and external services, coordinate supports for families.
- Additionally, plan in-home sessions and support family-led goal setting.
- Assist in creating promotional materials and organizing community events.
- Likewise, participate in partnerships with other departments to promote youth engagement.
- Ensure compliance by documenting and filing all information according to department policy.
- Moreover, report concerns promptly to the supervisor.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- A degree, diploma, or certificate in Human Services adds value to your application.
- In addition, candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Moreover, strong time management, organizational, and independent work abilities are essential.
- Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- An understanding of local family values is an asset.
- For example, candidates who have experience facilitating workshops and creating supporting material will stand out.
- Likewise, applicants who have worked with various family support programs and resources will demonstrate strong alignment with the role.
- Furthermore, candidates should feel comfortable speaking publicly and writing reports.
- The ability to speak the local language strengthens an application; in other words, bilingualism is welcomed.
- Above all, candidates must uphold high standards of ethics and confidentiality.
- Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license as well as access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel.
- Additionally, candidates must be ready to provide a clean Driver’s Abstract upon request.
- Finally, candidates must complete a clean Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Check before beginning employment.
