Couchiching First Nation is seeking a Parent Support Worker to join the Prevention/Social Services team.
Reporting to the Prevention Manager, this role is responsible for family intake and planning, program delivery, facilitation, and empowerment. Additionally, the Parent Support Worker will provide service navigation and collaboration support while maintaining a professional and compassionate approach. Furthermore, this position works closely with Social Service teams and community partners to support and encourage parents. The successful candidate will provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to families, while also facilitating workshops, support circles, and cultural teachings that strengthen family well-being.

Moreover, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, initiative, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving abilities. Applications must meet the following criteria:
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) to ensure consistency and accountability.
  • Support individuals experiencing a mental health crisis to safely resume community functioning and independence.
  • Provide telephone-based crisis assessment and brief counseling, while also offering referrals and follow-up support when necessary.
  • Respond promptly to on-site crises by delivering immediate intervention and emotional support to individuals in distress.
  • Coordinate admissions to the Crisis Safe Bed and assist clients in connecting with mental health specialists or local hospitals, as required.
  • Deliver crisis support to clients enrolled in the Crisis Safe Bed and collaborate with them to develop personalized Wellness Plans.
  • Attend community appointments and manage referrals to ensure clients access the resources they need.
  • Evaluate the need for additional on-site crisis supports in partnership with the Mobile Response Team.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment to coordinate referrals, linkages, and follow-ups to appropriate community services.
  • Maintain accurate and current client records using agency-approved systems, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Participate actively in Crisis Response Services Team meetings and contribute to discussions that enhance service delivery.
  • Liaise professionally with families, mental health professionals, police, and emergency service personnel to provide wraparound care.
  • Schedule and coordinate with facilities to assist individuals requiring acute care admission under the Mental Health Act.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall success of the program.
