Couchiching First Nation is seeking a compassionate and qualified Post-Secondary Education Counsellor to support students as they pursue their post-secondary education goals. This role blends individualized counselling, administrative coordination, and cultural understanding to ensure that students are well equipped and supported throughout their academic journeys.

As a key member of our education team, you will work closely with the Executive Director and the Elementary/Secondary Education Counsellor to guide students, facilitate access to funding and programs, and contribute to the development of education policies that reflect the values and needs of the community. Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, or Arts with training in counselling
  • OR Community College Diploma in Counselling plus 6 years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience working with Indigenous communities and/or organizations is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2–6 years of experience in counselling or classroom instruction
  • Strong understanding of Ontario Ministry of Education regulations
  • Further, knowledge of community services, customs, and traditions
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work respectfully within community protocols
  • Additionally, familiarity with Weechi It Te Win Family Services and the Child, Youth & Family Services Act
  • First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License and clear Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Lastly, ability to speak or willingness to learn Ojibway is considered an asset
