Salary:          Wages start at $30.73 per hour *based on qualifications and experience.
Hours:           8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 35 hrs/week

Summary:

Under the supervision and reporting to Director of Public Works and Operations Supervisor, the Waste Water Treatment Operator is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the First Nation waste water treatment systems. The Waste Water Treatment Operator demonstrates a full understanding of all applicable policies and work methods associated with assigned duties and assists with basic laboratory testing and sample collections.

Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):
  • Firstly, monitor, analyze, and adjust waste water treatment systems process parameters to ensure efficiency.
  • In addition, operate and maintain the sewage truck as part of daily operations.
  • Moreover, operate, maintain, and inspect waste water treatment facilities while performing minor servicing of related equipment.
  • Participate in training activities; furthermore, apply new knowledge to enhance operations.
  • Likewise, assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment to ensure compliance with asset management standards.
  • Participate on project teams; in the same vein, contribute to the evaluation and implementation of technological improvements.
  • Perform collection of waste water samples for lab testing and, as a result, maintain accurate records and logs.
  • Additionally, conduct daily checks and analysis on equipment operation, making necessary adjustments to ensure proper functionality.
  • Perform housekeeping, janitorial, as well as general maintenance duties to uphold safety and cleanliness.
  • Of course, carry out other duties as assigned, supporting the team as needed.
  • Finally, remove raw sewage from holding tanks and lift stations, then transport and discharge it into the lagoon.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work independently or as part of the team
  • Able to create alternative solutions to problems
  • Basic math knowledge
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Computer skills, including the ability to use word processors and spreadsheet programs
  • Effective verbal communication and listening skills
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Literacy skills, including the ability to read manuals
  • Post-Secondary degree from applicable field of study.
  • Stress management skills
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Waste water licensing within two years.
