Firedog Communications is seeking two full-time Indigenous Relations Coordinators to join our growing team. The successful candidates will provide community relations, engagement and consultation services for a variety of Ontario-based projects in natural resource industries. We are looking for individuals who are knowledgeable about Indigenous history and cultures, and who are passionate about advancing Reconciliation between Indigenous peoples and industry.

Key Duties
  • Participate in the development of community engagement and communications plans.
  • Planning and facilitating relationship-building activities with communities including events and meetings.
  • Attend and participate in events, meetings and presentations.
  • Write and produce content and communications materials including for media releases, presentations, workshops, briefings, social media, newsletters and websites.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships to share information and obtain feedback.
  • Provide advice regarding cultural programs and capacity building activities including language, community protocols and traditional knowledge.
  • Coordinate formal consultation and engagement activities to support projects.
  • Update and maintain inventories and databases.
  • Project administration including meeting minutes and reports.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with or for Indigenous communities or organizations.
  • College or University education in related business, administration or communications field.
  • Knowledge of United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (DRIPA), treaties etc.
  • Strong computer skills and literacy including MS Power Point, MS Word, MS Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organizational, time management, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Travel will be required in northern Ontario.
