First General is currently seeking a dynamic and talented individual to join its team as a Lead Carpenter. First General is a leading Insurance Restoration Company specializing in flood, wind and fire remediation and repair. Primary Focus:
Lead a team of carpenters as well as labourers on site to complete specific projects while maintaining the highest level of health and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- All employees must maintain health and safety standards on site to ensure legislative compliance.
- Supervise and provide direction to all employees on site.
- Provide carpentry expertise for all aspects of a project.
- Ensure all employees are complying with all company policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Act as company liaison for on-site customer relations issues while representing the company in a professional manner.
- Train all employees adequately so they can fulfill every aspect of their roles.
- Mentor field staff in planning and executing work on job sites, as well as remain available to answer questions about ongoing tasks.
- Supervise work actively to ensure it aligns with the project schedule and is performed safely.
- Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines.
- Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information.
- Further, establish and enforce good housekeeping practices on the work site to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workplace.
- Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job (and schedule) to the appropriate person.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Possess a Journeyman Trade Certificate in the Carpentry trade or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Minimum three years of field experience.
- Candidates with previous supervisory experience will bring added value to this role.
- Possess hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials and tools.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients.
- Physically capable of meeting the requirements of the position.
- Valid Drivers License.
