Job Summary
Lac Seul First Nation seeks a full-time Referral Support Worker (RSW) under the direction of the Director of Obishikokaang Sagatay-Gamik. The RSW handles the receiving, recording, and filing of all child welfare referral notifications from child welfare agencies across Canada. In addition, the role enforces community protocol and protects families’ rights during every investigation. Moreover, the worker coordinates cases, manages documents, and provides direct support during both on- and off-reserve investigations.
Rate: Wages start at $24.19/hour based on qualifications and experience.
Hours: 35 hours per week

Job Duties (not limited to)
- Receive and process all incoming child welfare referral notifications.
- Manage correspondence with child welfare agencies and act as a point of contact for case information.
- Maintain organized files for each notification and uphold confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain accurate contact lists and communication logs with agencies and families.
- Participate in case conferences concerning Lac Seul families. In addition, share updates and ensure accurate documentation of discussions.
- Attend all on-reserve child welfare investigations; also attend off-reserve cases virtually.
- Escort child welfare workers on reserve during investigations and therefore ensure that protocols are enforced.
- Photocopy, organize, and distribute documents as needed. Moreover, confirm that all documents reach the correct recipients.
- Coordinate with all relevant agencies to keep records accurate and complete.
- Collect required documentation from agencies in a timely manner.
- Support case management for new on-reserve referrals. In addition, track progress to maintain accurate records.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel within the three communities, provide your own transportation, and work overtime when necessary.
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Take initiative and demonstrate strong motivation.
Qualifications
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) required.
- Employers prefer post-secondary education in Human Services or a related field.
- Experience in data or case management adds value. In addition, strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in document handling, records management, and basic computer use.
- Applicants must show the ability to work in high-stress environments while maintaining professionalism. Moreover, applicants must show reliability under pressure.
- Experience working with First Nations communities strengthens your application. Furthermore, knowledge and respect for Ojibway culture and language are assets.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Applicants must also be willing to provide a clean Driver’s Abstract upon request.
