Couchiching First Nation is seeking a Post Majority Worker to join the Social Services team. Reporting directly to the Prevention Manager, this role develops and implements support plans, coordinates resources, and advocates for youth. The successful candidate will also handle crisis response and administrative tasks while working closely with families, guardians, educators, health care providers, and other youth supports. In this position, the Post Majority Worker fosters independence, encourages self-advocacy, and connects youth to essential resources such as education, employment, and housing. Additionally, the role promotes culturally safe and trauma-informed practices to support successful transitions into adulthood.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, this position offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping youth aging out of care achieve stability and independence.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a High School diploma or GED.
- Bring experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations, which employers strongly prefer.
- Have a minimum of two years’ experience supporting families, parents, or caregivers in social services, prevention, or community support roles.
- Demonstrate skills in program facilitation, family coaching, or life skills development.
- Show proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and online platforms.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Apply trauma-informed and culturally safe practices in all professional interactions.
- Exhibit strong organizational and time-management abilities to balance multiple responsibilities.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License.
- Perform other related duties to support departmental objectives.
