Job Position Overview:
Northern Peak HR Consulting is seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. Reporting directly to the Owner/Lead Consultant, the Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for developing and overseeing health and safety programs, ensuring clients maintain full regulatory compliance. This role will focus on managing Certification, Auditing, and Training and Development processes while driving health and safety initiatives across various industries.
Company and Location:
Northern Peak HR Consulting: The position will be based in Thunder Bay with significant travel within the region.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and manage Health and Safety policies and programs to ensure that clients meet all regulatory standards.
- Perform on-site inspections to identify potential hazards as well as maintain safety standards.
- Coordinate and deliver training programs for employees, focusing on both safety regulations and new hire orientation.
- Develop and implement Health and Safety continuous improvement strategies tailored to client needs.
- Assist with both disability claims management and the facilitation of Early Return to Work programs.
- Participate in inspections and audits, ensuring clients are compliant with all regulations.
- Collaborate in hazard identification processes and incident investigations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Support and drive certification programs to enhance workplace safety practices.
- Plan, schedule, and maintain detailed records of all training programs and initiatives.
- Provide administrative support to health and safety committees, including meeting minutes and inspection documentation.
- Lastly, fulfill other related duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of client safety programs.
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field (Business, Human Resources, Forestry, Kinesiology, Occupational and Public Health, etc.).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain high accuracy and confidentiality.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong initiative and self-starter mindset, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong planning capabilities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Regular attendance is crucial, with the ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle may be required.
