
Job Summary:
Lac Seul First Nation is seeking a Jordan’s Principle Coordinator for the Choose Life’s Department. In this essential role, the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator works under the direction and supervision of the Director of Youth Services and Community Recreation. Moreover, as the Jordan’s Principle Coordinator, you will provide knowledgeable support to assist children and families with case management, intake, assessment, and coordination. Furthermore, you navigate the full range of federal and provincial health, social, and education services and support to address children’s needs.
Jordan’s Principle Coordinator – Lac Seul First Nation | Support Indigenous Children & Families
Location: Frenchman’s Head, Lac Seul, ON
Term: Full-Time, Six-month term position with the possibility of extension
Salary: $33.80/hour based on qualifications and experience.
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., may be required to work evenings and weekends

Jordan’s Principle Coordinator Key Responsibilities are (but not limited to):
- Firstly, promote Jordan’s Principle to families, communities, and service providers
- Subsequently, advocate for youth and families to access needed services and resources
- In addition, support families and children with identified unmet needs with seeking supports or resources from provincial, federal, or other health, social and education systems
- Furthermore, design, coordinate, and oversee Jordan’s Principle program
- Establish and monitor performance metrics to evaluate program success and impact
- Accordingly, ensure that programs are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the diverse needs of the community
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers, fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment
- Community engagement; building trusting relationships with youth, families, Elders, and other community members
- Program Implementation; assist in the development and coordination of programs
- Documenting and reporting to maintain accurate and confidential records of support services and activities
- Manage budgets, ensuring financial records of support services and activities
- Prepare and present reports on programs outcomes, challenges, and achievements to Chief and Council
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support the sustainability and growth of youth services and recreation programs
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in community support or related roles, preferably within Indigenous communities
- Knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and community dynamics
- Understanding of mental health and wellness issues affecting Indigenous youth
- Proficient in Microsoft Officer Suite and basic reporting tools
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Effective communications skills and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Team-oriented with collaborative work ethic
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with regular travel to various sites within the region
- Flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet community needs
- Ability to handle stressful situations and provide support during crisis
