Term of Employment: Part-time (up to 30 hours) and Full-time (up to 75 hours) homemakers
Starting Wage: $17.00 hour (depending on qualifications/experience)
Hours of Work: Normal hours of work will be from 8:30 a.m. till 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday; however, it may be necessary to schedule work on the occasional evening/weekend to accommodate client needs (no later than 8:00 p.m.) or during the weekend.
Job Position Overview:
Homemakers will provide homemaking services to our elderly/disabled community members. The care provided will assist family members in keeping the client safely and comfortably
at home for as long as possible.
Interested Individuals should:
- Possess a valid First Aid and CPR certificate; however, we are willing to provide training/refresher;
- Willingness to provide a current negative vulnerable sector check;
- Must be able to communicate well, both written and verbal;
- Be current with immunization; and,
- Previous experience as homemakers or with clients, who are elderly, disabled or having chronic illnesses would be an asset.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with nutrition (meal planning and preparation);
- Provide light housekeeping;
- Provide representation of the Health Centre (maintain a professional appearance and advocate for clients within the HCC program, adhere to the goals, vision and policies of the Health Centre.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Be compassionate and creative;
- Possess an awareness of community resources;
- Be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, take direction well and work independently;
- Work within the mandate of the Home and Community Care Program and to seek direction when appropriate.
- Awareness of health issues specific to First Nations people, the elderly and those with disabilities.
- Must be able to determine and maintain confidentiality of client information.
