DISCHARGE COORDINATOR


(External – Term Contract up to January 2027, with Possible Extension)


The Discharge Coordinator will be responsible for the effective coordination of client discharges throughout the NAN Territory. The Discharge Coordinator’s primary objective is to undertake the overall coordination for clients being released from custody, to safely return to their destination community.

Qualifications:
  • Firstly, knowledge of historic and current forms of colonialism, systemic discrimination; displacement, and barriers facing Indigenous communities;
  • Proven ability to work with individuals from NAN communities;
  • As well as two years’ work experience in a social or justice services environment and/or post-secondary education in social services, law, politics, or Indigenous studies
  • Likewise, strong coordination skills
  • Previous experience in case management and client of coordination.
  • Strong computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings as required.
  • Reliable Transportation required
  • In addition, fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset.
  • Lastly, criminal record check is required.

Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation (NALSC) is hiring a full-time Discharge Coordinator in Thunder Bay, Ontario, on a term contract through January 2027 with the possibility of extension, advertised on the Northern Peak HR Consulting job board. This Indigenous justice and social services position is responsible for coordinating client discharges throughout NAN Territory and supporting individuals being released from custody so they can safely return to their destination communities. Qualified candidates should have experience working with individuals from Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) communities, strong coordination and case management skills, and knowledge of colonialism, systemic discrimination, displacement, and barriers affecting Indigenous communities. Applicants should also have two years of experience in a social or justice services environment and/or post-secondary education in social services, law, politics, or Indigenous studies, along with strong Microsoft Office and computer skills, reliable transportation, and flexibility to work evenings as required. Fluency in an Indigenous language is an asset, and a criminal record check is required. This Thunder Bay Discharge Coordinator job offers 35 hours per week and an annual salary of $54,113, with applications closing August 23, 2026.
