Job Summary:

Lac Seul First Nation is seeking a full-time Personal Support Worker. Under the direct supervision of the Home and Community Care Director and Coordinator/Nurse, the Personal Support Worker will help increase the quality of care in Elders and the physically challenged. As well as to provide home management, personal care, respite assistance and health assistance to clients based on assessed needs. Furthermore, the goal is to promote the client’s ability to live independently in a private home. The Personal Support Worker will provide services to the three (3) communities of Lac Seul First Nation by promoting healthy living.

  • Location: Lac Seul First Nation, ON.
  • Rate: Wages start at $27.94./hr * Depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Term: Full-time position
  • Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 35 hrs per week
  • Closing: Until filled.

Qualifications:
  • Firstly, a Personal Support Worker certificate or equivalent required
  • In addition, must have patience, understanding and compassion in working with Elders and physically challenged
  • Creativity, adaptability and strong organization and time management skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team atmosphere
  • Likewise, must have demonstrated ability to accept supervision
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills are required to quickly diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions, from minor illnesses to life-threatening emergencies.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Moreover, a high degree of confidentiality.
  • First Aid/CPR Level C.
  • Valid Immunization Certification or willing to obtain.
  • Valid Ontario “G” Class Driver’s License and access to reliable vehicle.
  • Knowledge of First Nation and the language, culture, and traditions.
  • Equally important, the ability to speak in the Ojibwe language would be an asset
  • Excellent Communication and organizational skills
  • Lastly, must be willing to provide Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening.
